Access via GitHub OAuth

SWPanel allows users to authenticate and access the platform through the GitHub OAuth authentication system. This access method is optional and is only used when the user expressly chooses to sign in with their GitHub account.

Information collected

When the user uses access via GitHub OAuth, SWPanel may access only the basic GitHub profile information authorized by the user, which may include:

  • GitHub username
  • Email address (if available and authorized)
  • Unique user identifier provided by GitHub
  • Profile image (avatar)
  • Public GitHub profile URL

SWPanel does not request or access private repositories, repository content, collaborators, issues, pull requests, or any other sensitive GitHub account information, unless expressly and additionally authorized by the user.

Use of information

The information obtained through GitHub OAuth is used exclusively to:

  • Verify the user’s identity
  • Create or associate the user account within SWPanel
  • Allow secure access to the platform
  • Manage the user session

The data obtained is not used for advertising, commercial, or external marketing purposes, nor for profiling unrelated to the operation of the service.

Information sharing

SWPanel does not share data obtained through GitHub OAuth with third parties, except in the following cases:

  • When strictly necessary for the technical operation of the service (for example, infrastructure technology providers).
  • When required by law or by a competent authority.

Under no circumstances is GitHub data sold, rented, or transferred for commercial purposes.

Storage and security

Data associated with access via GitHub OAuth is stored in secure systems, applying appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

SWPanel does not store GitHub account passwords or GitHub access credentials. Authentication is performed using access tokens managed in accordance with GitHub’s OAuth protocol.

Data retention

Data obtained through GitHub OAuth is retained while the user’s account remains active in SWPanel or as long as necessary to comply with legal or contractual obligations.

Once the account is deleted, the associated data will be securely deleted or anonymized, unless applicable regulations require its retention for a specific period.

Data deletion and user rights

The user may request at any time:

  • Deletion of their SWPanel account
  • Revocation of GitHub access and removal of associated data
  • Information about stored data

The user may also revoke SWPanel’s access from the security settings of their GitHub account. Requests will be handled within legally established timeframes.

Compliance with GitHub policies

SWPanel complies with GitHub’s applicable privacy and security policies for OAuth applications. Data obtained is used solely to provide the core functionality of the application and in accordance with the permissions granted by the user.

GitHub data is not used for surveillance, profiling, or to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models without the user’s explicit consent, where applicable.

Changes to this provision

SWPanel may update this section to adapt to regulatory, technical, or GitHub requirement changes. Any modifications will be published together with the updated Privacy Policy.
